The Middle East, in particular Saudi Arabia, has rapidly been transforming into a hub of technological innovation and digital transformation. From tech giants increasing their presence in the Kingdom to over 1,600 startups, the country is witnessing a budding ecosystem of digital services. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, aimed at diversifying and innovating the economy, has accelerated the adoption of digital technologies. As a result, apps like Absher, Radio Thmanyah, stc bank, and ToYou are redefining convenience and connectivity for all.
In this article, we delve deeper into one of these apps:
Radio Thmanyah
Radio Thmanyah is an Arabic (and more) podcast app designed to give users a unique experience, enhancing listeners’ podcast journey with innovative features and seamless integration. From its user-friendly interface to its diverse content library, you can definitely feel the profound thought and effort put into the development. What sets Radio Thmanyah apart is its mission to revolutionize the podcast experience – and that’s why we’re excited to feature it in this article.
What We Love About Radio Thmanyah
Ease of Use
The app boasts of a clean, seamless, and intuitive design that makes it easy for the users to navigate through the app and discover podcasts without any hassle. The features are straightforward and its minimalistic interface makes it a contender for a top spot in most user-friendly apps.
Robust Content
Radio Thmanyah positions itself as an app with a rich and diverse content library. From financial advice to investigation stories, the platform offers a wide array of content that caters to varied interests. This variety makes the app a stand out destination for podcast listeners who want both substance and diversity in their listening experience.
Socialization
Another great feature of Radio Thmanyah is the ability for users to comment on each podcast. This space allows users to share their thoughts and opinions, creating a rich space for insights. By reading these comments, listeners can gain a deeper understanding of the podcast’s content and engage with other fellow listeners.

What Can Be Improved
User Onboarding
While Radio Thmanyah offers a user-friendly interface, the app’s onboarding experience could benefit from enhancements. Although the app’s onboarding experience is functional, it can be more engaging and interactive so that users are acquainted with the features and reach the aha-moment much faster.
Onboarding is a crucial aspect of any app because it sets the stage for user engagement and retention – the part where you either make them a life long partner or you risk losing them forever. A carefully curated onboarding process can help users understand the value of the app quickly leading them to their “aha moment” – where they realize the app’s true value. As a result, investing in a well-designed onboarding experience is essential to maximizing user satisfaction and retention.
Let’s see how we can implement our PRODUCT360 onboarding framework (we wrote more about it here!). This framework includes defining steps needed to ensure that users take the actions necessary to familiarize themselves with the app and interact with its features.
Now let’s apply our Onboarding Framework on Thmanyah:
Thmanyah Current User Flow
- The user signs up using their email and PIN code is sent to their email to verify it
- Once the user is in the app, they land on the app’s homepage
- There are different pages for the user to explore but currently no direction on which steps to take
Suggestions For Improvement
Onboarding checklist
- The user is prompted with a checklist on the dashboard with steps to get started. For example:
- Users receive visual feedback (e.g. progress bars or check marks) as they complete each task
Completion
- Once users complete the essential tasks, the checklist disappears and users will get redirected to a tailored playlist.
- The smart playlist will be formed based on the user’s selected interest and creators followed.
- The app will prompt the user to play their first podcast.
In the playlist, the user can enhance their experience by swiping left or right to like or remove a podcast. This interaction will help the app gather data on their preferences and provide more tailored suggestions based on their actions.
The issue with Radio Thmanyah’s current onboarding flow is that it may be difficult for new users to find content that is right for them. The suggested approach aims to improve this experience to increase the number of users who play content in their first interaction with the app and therefore increase their engagement and retention by fully leveraging the app’s features from the start.
Overall, we believe that Radio Thmanyah has the leverage and potential to become one of the biggest content apps in the region and globally, and can definitely achieve their goal in revolutionizing the podcast listening experience. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
